If circumstances dictate that more extreme measures need to be taken, we are prepared for that, too.
If you are experiencing property damage to trees and structures or flooding due to beaver activity, we can help.
Beavers are second only to man in their ability to manipulate and change their environment. They are one of the largest rodents on earth and, like other rodents, must constantly gnaw to keep their incisors sharp. Beavers are much admired for their work ethic and the phrase "busy as a beaver" recognizes their tireless efforts when constructing and maintaining their dams and lodges.
Beavers are herbivores and eat leaves, aquatic plants, bark and twigs. They have an awkward looking waddle when on land but can swim up to 5 mph in the water. Their hind feet are webbed for propulsion through the water and their flat paddle shaped tails are used as rudders to steer them.
Beavers can reach up to 4 feet long (including their tail) and can weigh 60 lbs. Beaver pelts (fur) was once in high demand in the late 19th and early 20th century as the latest in fashionable coats and hats.

Beaver Habitat
Beavers prefer to live in burrows on the banks of rivers and lakes. When these locations aren't available they will transform less suitable habitat into lakes by creating dams out of logs, sticks and mud. These dams block streams and creeks creating ponds by flooding fields and forests. Beavers will dig canals to float building materials to their dams when it is too difficult to haul them overland.
Beavers create massive domed structures in those lakes to live in called lodges. The lodges are made from mud, sticks and logs and are often located strategically in the middle of the pond. The lodge entrances are underwater which protects them from predators. Lodges are home to extended families which include the original mating pair, newborn kits as well as offspring from the previous year. Beavers can remain underwater for up to 15 minutes and have a second set of eyelids that function much like swimming goggles.
Why Is Beaver Trapping Necessary?
Many people who have had their property flooded want to know how to get rid of beavers. Beaver trapping is the essential element when trying to control beavers. Homeowners and businesses alike are not happy when lakes are created on their property. Beaver dams that flood streams and creeks can cause tens of thousands of dollars in damage and render large areas of land unusable. Additionally, valuable trees are damaged or destroyed when beavers decide to use your property as their building site. We can sometimes install shields around target trees to protect them but this is only a temporary measure. There is no other effective method of beaver control other than trapping.
We get rid of beavers using a variety of methods: Live cage traps, body traps and snares. Each type of trap has it's own specialized benefits and uses depending on the situation. We are not beaver "exterminators." Nearly all of our beaver removal jobs can be accomplished through trapping.
